ESTERO, Fla. – After kicking off their 2026-27 campaign in winning fashion, the Florida Everblades hit the road for the first time this year traveling north to Orlando. The Everblades will look to sweep the weekend at Kia Center on October 18 with a 5 p.m. puck drop against the Solar Bears.
Saturday night saw the Everblades take down the Solar Bears by a score of 3-1 thanks to an all around effort and a masterful showing from netminder Cam Johnson. Johnson made 17 saves on 18 shots to earn the win in the home opener. Broten Sabo got the scoring started in the first and that was followed up by Craig Needham and a Ben Brar shorthanded empty netter.
The Everblades will look to carry the momentum from banner raising night into Orlando on Sunday. It is safe to say that the Everblades feel quite comfortable playing at Kia Center as they won all seven games in that arena last season in regulation. The Solar Bears badly want to rewrite the narrative of last season between these two rivals.
Expect the physicality to continue to be a massive part of this contest. Saturday night’s game saw a couple of fights including one from Carson Gicewicz and Broten Sabo. These two rivals meet for the second of 15 matchups in 2026-27 on Sunday and there is no love lost.
