ESTERO, Fl - The Everblades fell in overtime 2-1 Friday night to the Orlando Solar Bears to end off the preseason.
A scoreless first period featured much improved play from Orlando, although Florida still controlled the pace of play. Carson Gicewicz was denied on a shorthanded breakaway late by Scott Ratzlaff to keep the game scoreless.
In the early second period, Broten Sabo sprung Jack Horbach on a break and he beat Ratzlaff to open the scoring with his second goal in as many preseason games. Both teams swapped their goaltenders midway through the period - Cam Johnson finished with 11 saves on 11 shots, while Ratzlaff's night ended with 11 saves on 12 shots.
In the third period Orlando tied the game on a three-on-two rush finished off by Brendan Harris, which was enough to force the game to overtime. In the extra frame, Dyllan Gill cranked home a one timer off Aaron Luchuk's setup to finish the game.
The two teams face off again Saturday, October 17 at Hertz Arena to kick off the regular season. The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. after the Everblades raise their 2026 Kelly Cup Championship banner to the rafters.
