ESTERO, FL – The Florida Everblades announced Wednesday that the team has agreed to terms with defenseman Jordan Henry (pictured left) and forward Mike Cichy (pictured right, GS Photo/WMU Athletics) for the 2014-15 season.
Henry, 28, returns to Southwest Florida after totaling 23 points (9g,14a) and a+9 rating in 34 games played with the Everblades last season. In addition, the 6-2, 198-pound blueliner logged an assist in 19 appearances with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League last season as well.
"Jordan is a real leader, and will be a top defenseman for us next season," said Everblades Head Coach Greg Poss. "He brings a lot of AHL experience to our roster and we are thrilled to have him back."
Henry has registered 69 points (22g, 47a) in 252 career AHL games in stints with Rochester, Abbottsford, Chicago, Oklahoma City, and Syracuse. The Milo, Alberta native also played in 36 games in the KHL for Minsk Dynamo during the 2010-11 season.
Cichy,24, joins the Everblades after posting eight points (2g,6a) in 34 games played at Western Michigan University last season. The 5-11, 186-pound forward posted 18 points (4g,14a) with the Broncos during the 2012-13 season. From 2009-2011 Cichy(pronounced SEE-chee) played at the University of North Dakota.
"Mike is a first-year pro from Western Michigan who has a lot of skill," said Poss. "We expect him to further develop his game at the pro-level, and we believe his best hockey is still to come."
The New Hartford, Connecticut native had a very productive career in the USHL from 2007-2009 totaling 121 points split between the Tri-City Storm and the Indiana Ice. Cichy was selected by the Montreal Canadiens in the seventh-round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
