Estero, FL – The Florida Everblades announced Wednesday that the NHL’s New York Rangers have assigned goalie Scott Stajcer to the club from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.
Stajcer, 22, made eight appearances with the Wolf Pack this season, posting a 2-2-0 record with a 2.51 GAA and an .891 SV% against AHL competition. He is a former draft pick of the Rangers, who selected the 6’3” stopper in the fifth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, 140th overall.
“Scott is really good, young goalie,” lauded Blades head coach Greg Poss. “We’ve been juggling chainsaws with one goalie all year, so we’re happy to have him on board.”
Out of the 34 games played so far this season, Florida has only had 11 games with more than one netminder on the roster, excepting emergency backup goalies.
A native of Cambridge, Ontario, Stajcer has also spent time in the ECHL in 2013-14, starting eight games for the Greenville Road Warriors. He faced the Blades on December 21, collecting the win net for the Warriors.
On the ice, the Blades continue their four-game home stand Friday at 7:30pm when they face the in-state rival Orlando Solar Bears at Germain Arena.
