North Charleston, SC – Following a 4-2 loss to open their three-game divisional road trip, the Florida Everblades will look to bounce back Saturday at 7:05pm when they face off against the South-leading South Carolina Stingrays at North Charleston Coliseum.

Though the Blades and Rays both tallied a pair of even-strength goals Friday, two South Carolina power play goals made the difference in the series opener as the homestanding Stingrays pulled away for the 4-2 victory.

Everblades rookie Kyle Bonis, who leads all first-year skaters in goals, snapped a nine-game goalless streak Friday off a Mike Merrifield pass late in the second period.

Earlier Saturday, the Blades’ blue line got a boost when the AHL’s Charlotte Checkers assigned defenseman Beau Schmitz to Florida. Schmitz appeared in 50 games with eight points (8a) for the Everblades in 2012-13.

The return of top netminder Jeff Jakaitis bolstered the Stingrays in net Friday, as the 30-year-old stopped 24 of 26 shots to help the division leaders secure the victory.

Saturday’s critical rematch will be broadcast live online at FloridaEverblades.com and on the Everblades’ app for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, with a video webcast available through America ONE, the official broadband and mobile broadcaster of the ECHL, at www.americaonesports.com. Pregame coverage will get under way at 6:50pm.
