Estero, FL – The Florida Everblades announced Friday that goaltender Kristers Gudlevskis has been called up to the National Hockey League by the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Gudlevskis, 20, was a fifth-round pick in the NHL Entry Draft in June of the Lightning.
A 6-foot-3, 205 pound native of Aizkraukle, Latvia, Gudlevskis has been in training camp with the Everblades since October 3. He spent the 2012-13 season with HC Riga in the MHL—Russia’s top junior league—with a record of 27-18, a 2.09 GAA and a .927 SV%.
When Gudlevskis plays his first game for the Lightning, he will be the 26th player in Everblades history to play in the NHL.
The Everblades open the 2013-14 campaign at Germain Arena on Friday, October 18, with Black Out Night against the Orlando Solar Bears. Individual game tickets are now on sale at the Capital Bank Box Office at Germain Arena, Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturdays 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
