Blades Receive Della Rovere, Bonis from AHL Charlotte

Estero, FL – The Florida Everblades announced Monday that forwards Stefan Della Rovere and Kyle Bonis have been assigned to the team by the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.

Della Rovere, 23, was a seventh-round pick for the Washington Capitals in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, eventually making his NHL debut for the St. Louis Blues—coincidentally against the Caps—on December 1, 2010.

“Stefan brings NHL experience to our roster,” analyzed Everblades head coach Greg Poss, “and he’s a skilled, effective winger who will be a great addition to our team.”

Hailing from Richmond Hill, Ontario, Della Rovere has seven total NHL appearances with the Blues. The winger also has 28 career points (13g, 15a) at the AHL level with the Hershey Bears and the Peoria Rivermen. He also won gold and silver medals at the World Junior Championships for Team Canada in 2009 and 2010, respectively.

Bonis, 24, played in six AHL games last season with the Norfolk Admirals—tallying one goal and one assist—after a four-year NCAA Division I career with FerrisStateUniversity.

“Kyle is a dynamic winger who performed at a high level with one of the top college programs in the country,” added Poss. “We’re very excited to bring him in.”

With the Bulldogs, Bonis racked up 77 points (47g, 30a) and was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team in 2012—in which he scored the game-winning goal for FerrisState against Union in Tampa. The Lindsay, Ontario, native served as FSU’s captain during the 2012-13 season.
