'Blades Add O'Donnell and MacDonald for 2013-14

ESTERO, FL – Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Greg Poss announced Wednesday that the team has agreed to terms with forwards Shawn O’Donnell and Will MacDonald for the 2013-14 season.

O’Donnell, 25, returns after logging four points (1g, 3a) in five regular season games played with the ‘Blades this past March. In addition, the 6-1, 192-pound forward made 12 playoff appearances for Florida logging two assists.

“Shawn joined the team late in the season, and learned a lot about the pro level,” said Everblades Head Coach Greg Poss. “He has worked hard this summer, and will be attending the Boston Bruins Rookie Camp. Shawn is a great asset with his speed and shot.”

Prior to joining the ‘Blades, O’Donnell totaled 26 points (14g, 12a) in 28 games played at St. Mary’s University, and helped lead the Huskies to the CIS Championship.  He accumulated 62 career points during his four collegiate seasons (2009-2013).  Prior to college, the Halifax, Nova Scotia native played four seasons in the junior ranks with the Weekes Crushers (MJAHL), which includes a 31-game stint with the Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL) in 2007-08.

MacDonald, 24, rejoins the Everblades after posting three goals in six games played last spring in Florida.  Prior to the joining the ‘Blades, the 5-11, 180-pound forward registered eight points (4g, 4a) in his senior season at Princeton University.   MacDonald totaled 31 points (10g, 21a) during his four-year collegiate career with the Tigers.

“Will is another guy who impressed us late last season,” said Poss.  “He can play all three forward positions, and is an intelligent player with good speed.”

The Atlanta, Georgia native also played two seasons with the Indiana Ice (USHL) from 2007-2009 compiling 41 points (19g, 22a).

Today’s announcement now gives the Everblades eight players (7-forwards, 1-defenseman) who have agree to terms for next season.
