ESTERO, FL – The Florida Everblades announced Monday that forward Mathieu Roy has been named the Reebok Hockey ECHL Player of the Month for February.
Roy, 26, totaled 19 points (13g, 6a) in 13 games during the month of February. Roy registered at least one point in 12 of 13 games during the month, which included two hat tricks on February 15 at Greenville, and February 19 against Gwinnett. He began the month on an 11-game point streak, tallying 18 points (12g-6a) during that stretch.
The Amos, Quebec native has posted a career-high 64 points (29g, 35a) in 56 games played this season, and is currently ranked third in the ECHL in scoring.
The Everblades Captain has accrued 256 career points (114g, 142a) in 380 ECHL games split between Florida and Pensacola. Last year, Roy helped lead Florida to its first Kelly Cup Championship registering 10 points (5g, 5a) in 18 playoff appearances.
Florida opens up a four-game road swing in Cincinnati on Wednesday beginning at 7:35 p.m. The game will be broadcast on 96 K-Rock (96.1 FM).
The Everblades next home game is Wednesday, March 13 against the South Carolina Stingrays. It will be the final Wednesday game of the regular season, and the fan’s last chance to enjoy $2 drafts, $2 wines, and $2 hot dogs all night long.
