ORLANDO, FL – Corey Trivino finished with a goal and an assist to lead the Florida Everblades to a 3-1 victory at the Amway Center Thursday night.
Orlando got on the board first scoring a goal from Chris Lawrence at 5:01 of the opening period. Lawrence picked up a rebound at the top of the crease and fired shot off the pad of Florida goaltender Pat Nagle who made the save. However, the rebound bounced back to Lawrence who then attempted a backhand shot from the top of crease that beat Nagle for the goal.
Less than two minutes later, the Everblades tied the game at 1-1. Forward Leigh Salters carried the puck into the zone and was allowed to walk uncontested to the middle of the slot. Salters fired a wrist shot which clipped past the glove of Orlando netminder Patrick Killeen for the goal to put the score at 1-1 after the first period.
The Everblades added to their lead in the second. Mathieu Roy fielded the puck behind the Orlando net and rolled a pass into the slot to Corey Trivino. Trivino immediately snapped a shot high into the corner of the net for his seventh goal of the season to give Florida its first lead the game 2-1.
Moments later, the ‘Blades went on the power play for the first time of the game and converted. Once again the set up man was Roy who grabbed the puck form the right side of the crease and with a stellar move, steered the puck across the crease to Matthew Pistilli. Pistlli immediately hammered the puck into the net past an outstretched Killeen for the power play marker. Florida took the 3-1 edge into the second break.
The Everblades controlled play in the final period of regulation, keeping the puck in the offensive zone. Orlando was able to muster nine shots in the period, but all were turned away by Pat Nagle who secured the 3-1 Florida victory.
Nagle earns his 12th win of the season, stopping 34 of 35 shots, while Killeen takes the loss allowing three goals on 36 shots faced.
