ESTERO, FL – The Florida Everblades announced that forward Justin Shugg has been named to the 2013 ECHL All-Star Game which will take place in Loveland, Colorado on January 23. The ECHL All-Star Skills Competition will take place on January 22.
Shugg, who is currently recalled to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League, posted 22 points (11g, 11a) in 19 games played with the ‘Blades this season. Shugg netted his first career hat trick on December 8 at Wheeling. The 5-11, 194-pound winger led the Everblades with seven goals in the 2012 Kelly Cup Playoffs last spring. Shugg registered 12 points (5g, 7a) in 33 games played with Charlotte (AHL) last season.
The Niagara Falls, Ontario native finished his junior career with 186 pts (101g, 85a) split between Oshawa, Windsor, and Mississauga St. Michaels of the Ontario Hockey League.
Shugg was a member of Windsor’s back-to-back Memorial Cup Championship teams in 2008 and 2009. Shugg is a fourth round draft selection of the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
