Everblades Stay Perfect in Preseason

Florida Everblades concluded the preseason with a 5-1 win over the Orlando Solar Bears on Saturday night at Germain Arena. Florida ends the preseason with a 2-0 record.

The Everblades scored the first goal of the night at 6:16 of the first period, with a shot from the right wing circle by Mathieu Roy which beat Orlando goaltender Brooke Ostergard.

David Rutherford ended the period with a goal from the top of the crease, which was assisted by Aaron Bogosian, which gave the Everblades a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period.

Orlando answered back at 10:26 of the second period on a goal scored by Samson Mahbod. After a diving save off of the stick by Everblades goaltender Rob Madore, Mahbod picked up the rebound squeezed in the net for the goal to pull the Solar Bears within one.

Four minutes later, Brandon MacLean fed a pass from behind the net to Matt Marquardt who secured a goal from the right circle bumping the score to 3-1.

The Blades started the third period off right as MacLean passed the puck to Marquardt who brought it around the back of the net and took a shot from the right side of the crease. The puck slid past Ostergard and into the bottom left corner of the net to secure a goal and bring the score to 4-1.

The third period ended in favor of the Everblades, as Mathieu Roy fed the puck to Trevor Bruess who took a shot from the right side of the crease which beat Ostergard to give Florida a commanding 5-1 victory.

Marquardt finished a pair of goals, while Rutherford scored his third of the preseason. Defenseman Joe Sova registered two assists and a plus-3 rating.

Madore earns the win stopping 23 of 24 shots, while Ostergard takes the loss, allowing five goals on 38 shots faced.
