ESTERO, FL- Jake Paterson stopped all 32 shots faced leading the Toledo Walleye to a 3-0 shutout victory over the Florida Everblades Friday night at Germain Arena.
After a scoreless opening period that saw a defensive battle from both the Everblades and Walleye, the Walleye pulled out in front with ten minutes to play in the second period.
Zach Nastasiuk broke the scoreless tie when he tipped the puck out of mid-air past Rasmus Tirronen off a Shane Berschbach shot from the left wing circle giving the Walleye the 1-0 lead heading into the third period.
Just past the halfway point in the third period Kyle Bonis extended the Walleye lead as he snapped the puck in low past Tirronen from the left wing circle giving the Walleye the 2-0 lead.
Three minutes left in the game the Everblades pulled Tirronen to go up the extra attacker, but unfortunately for the Blades it wasn’t enough as Berschbach scored an empty net goal with two minutes to play in the game to give the Walleye the 3-0 win.
Jake Patterson earned his second shutout victory of the season stopping all 32 shots faced, while Rasmus Tirronen takes the loss allowing two goals on 18 shots on goal.
