Despite the loss, the Everblades continue to hold the top spot in the South Division.  Wheeling enters tonight unbeaten in its last four games (3-0-1-0) and currently leads the North Division.About Wednesday’s Game: John McCarron scored twice, and the Wheeling defense was able to hold off a furious comeback attempt by the Everblades to pick up a 6-5 victory at German Arena and snap Florida’s win streak.  Wheeling scored three goals in the first four minutes of both the first and second periods.  Florida chipped away at the Wheeling lead for most of the night, while Brant Harris scored twice in the third period.  The Everblades fired a barrage of shots at goaltender Franky Palazzese in the game’s final minutes, but failed to net the equalizer.

About the Everblades:  Following a three-assist performance on Wednesday, Matt Marquardt is now tied for the league lead in scoring with 18 points…Forward Brant Harris is now tied with teammate Mike Aviani (currently called up to AHL) and Wheeling’s Jarrett Burton for second in the ECHL in goals scored with eight…Anthony Peters is expected to once again start in goal this evening...Entering tonight, the Everblades continue to hold the league’s top power play and penalty kill units.
