Friday, October 16: Florida – 4 vs Atlanta – 3 (Overtime)Florida’s Evan Bloodoff scored the first 3-on-3 overtime goal in ECHL history to give the Everblades a 4-3 victory over the Gladiators. The Everblades scored three goals in the opening frame to go up 3-0 before the Gladiators came back and scored three unanswered, one in the first period two in the third period to force overtime. Brock Higgs scored two third period for Atlanta.
Saturday, October 17: Florida -6 vs Atlanta – 1Mike Aviani leads Florida with three points in Saturday’s game versus the Gladiators to help the Everblades to a 6-1 blowout victory at Germain Arena. The Everblades again scored three goals in the opening period to take a 3-0 lead before Atlanta scored their one and only goal of the game with 30 seconds left in the first period. Anthony Peters got the win in goal for the Everblades for the first time this season, stopping 29 out of the Gladiators’ 30 shots.

The Everblades will start the week at home on Wednesday against the Norfolk Admirals, but will close out the week with a 3-in-3 beginning Friday at Atlanta and concluding Sunday in Greenville.

The Norfolk Admirals (1-1-0-0, 2 pts) will make their only appearance at Germain Arena in the regular season on Wednesday. The Admirals are one of three teams to join the ECHL from the American Hockey League this year. However, this is not the first stint for the Admirals in the ECHL. The Norfolk Admirals were once known as the Hampton Roads Admirals, a team that played in the ECHL from 1989-2000, winning three league championships. In 2001, the team joined the American Hockey League, and is now back again in 2015-16 with the recent shuffling of teams and affiliates amongst the ECHL and AHL. Norfolk split a pair of games at home this past weekend against The Wheeling Nailers. Former Everblade Steven Whitney is now a member of the Admirals and will make his return to Germain Arena on Wednesday.

The Atlanta Gladiators (0-1-1-0, 1 pt) will be looking for some vengeance on Friday and Saturday when they entertain the Everblades at the Arena at Gwinnett Center. Florida defeated the Gladiators on Friday with a 4-3 overtime victory, while taking the second game in a 6-1 rout on Saturday. Expect a big push back from the Gladiators in their home opener on Friday. Thomas Frazee and Brock Higgs played well against the ‘Blades this past weekend, and forward Gerry Nunn continues to be a threat to score at any time he is on the ice.

The team formerly known as the Greenville Road Warriors, the Greenville SwampRabbits (0-1-0-0, 0 pts) dropped a 6-3 decision to the Orlando Solar Bears in their season opener at the Amway Center Saturday. Despite a sporting a new look and nickname, Greenville continues to be a big rival of the Everblades, and lead the all-time series between the two with a 32-17-9 mark. Florida will need to be mindful of forward Jack Combs who has a knack for racking up points in large bunches.
