Matt Ginn Earns Shutout in Pro Debut as 'Blades Win 3-0

ESTERO, FL – Matt Ginn stopped all 34 shots faced in his professional debut to lead the Florida Everblades to a 3-0 shutout win over the Greenville Road Warriors Friday night at Germain Arena.   The Everblades extend their winning streak to six games. It did not take long for newly acquired goaltender Matt Ginn to see some action in his pro debut.  Greenville outshot the Everblades 16-1 in the first period, and Ginn was there to stop them all to keep the Everblades in the contest.

The game remained scoreless until the 7:04 mark of the second period when Cameron Burt lifted a pass in front to a wide open Steven Whitney in the slot.  Whitney carried the puck to just above the crease and wedged the puck high into the net past the glove of Greenville netminder Jason Missiaen to put the ‘Blades up 1-0.

The Everblades found some breathing room at 13:47 of the third period on the power play.  A tic-tac-toe passing play from Adam Brace to Gabriel Desjardins to Jordan Henry was completed when Henry wristed the puck into the net from the left wing circle for the tally.

Trailing 2-0, Greenville received a power play in the final minutes and then pulled the goaltender to create a 6-on-4 advantage.  Greenville delivered several shots toward the net, but Ginn managed to keep the puck out.

With the net still empty, and a faceoff at center ice, the Everblades’ Brant Harris won the draw back to Mike Little at the Florida blue line. Little hurled the puck straight down the middle of the ice into the empty net to seal the 3-0 victory.

Ginn who recorded four shutouts during his senior season at College of the Holy Cross, stopped all 34 shots faced in his professional debut.  Ginn becomes the second Everblades goaltender to record a shutout in his professional debut in the past week.  Anthony Peters stopped 30 shots on March 6 in Greenville.

Missiaen takes the loss allowing two goals on 18 shots.

The two teams will close out their season series with one another on Saturday at Germain Arena at 7:00 p.m.  Annual Guns N Hoses game featuring local police and fire fighters starts at 5:15.   (More details below).
