Last Time Out: Andy Iles made 30 saves and stopped all three shooters in the overtime shootout to help lead the Everblades to a 3-2 victory over the Gwinnett Gladiators Wednesday night at Germain Arena. Matt Marquardt, Alex Lavoie, and Mitch Wahl all netted goals in the shootout. Florida has now won back-to-back games in the shootout…The Stingrays picked up a 2-1 overtime victory over the Orlando Solar Bears last night at the Amway Center. The ECHL’s hottest team earned the win on Brandon Wong's goal at 1:16 into the extra session.
About the Everblades: Adam Brace continues to lead the ‘Blades with 45 points, while sharing the team lead in goals (20) with Evan Bloodoff who was recently placed on the 21-Day IR. Jesse Graham’s power play tally in the first period of Wednesday’s game against Gwinnett, snapped a five-game span in which the Everblades failed to record a power play marker. Despite the skid, Florida still boasts the league’s second best power play unit. Forward Mitch Wahl continues to be a consistent point producer for the Everblades. Wahl has recorded a point in 12 of the last 15 games, totaling 20 points during this stretch which also includes seven multi-point games.
About the Stingrays: South Carolina possesses the top goaltending tandem in the ECHL in Adam Morrison and Jeff Jakaitis. Morrison (1.89 GAA) and Jakaitis (2.21 GAA) sit first and third respectively in the league goaltending rankings. Earlier this week, the Stingrays acquired high-scoring forward Brandon Wong (40 pts) from the Evansville IceMen. Forward Wayne Simpson (36 points) leads the Rays in scoring against Florida with five points (2g, 3a). The stingy Stingrays are first in the league with a 26.10 shots-against per game, and are 4th in the league on the penalty kill.
