JACKSONVILLE, FL. – Ryan Mast scored the overtime winner to give the Florida Everblades a 2-1 OT win over the Jacksonville Icemen Friday night.
Ben Brar started the scoring late in the first period as after a Jacksonville pass hit off an official and deflected straight to Jesse Lansdell, who set up Brar for his second of the season. Both teams goot eight shots on goal in the opening frame.
Things stayed tight through a scoreless second period and deep into the third period. After looking like the Everblades would be able to lock the Icemen out, Jacksonville's captain Bennett MacArther sniped home a game tying goal from the right circle with just 21.4 seconds left in the game.
Overtime went back and forth with both teams hitting the post and getting quality looks, but a two-on-one with two defensemen found Florida the game winning goal as Broten Sabo was able to set up Mast for the OT winner.
Jacksonville outshout Florida 28-24, the first time Florida has been outshot this season. The Everblades went 0/4 on the power play, while the Icemen went 0/5.
Florida returns to VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena tomorrow night to take on the Icemen again at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 7.
