GREENVILLE, SC. - The Florida Everblades get right back to work on Saturday, October 31 with a quick turnaround for a 2:05 p.m. puck drop in Greenville, South Carolina. The Blades are seeking a response after losing their first game of the season on Friday night, 5-4.

Game one’s physical nature and penalty filled scoresheet will surely have a similar impact on the second game of this series. Florida went one for five on the powerplay and three for five on the penalty kill. That brings Florida’s powerplay percentage to 21% and penalty kill to 82.6% on the season.

Despite the loss, a couple of Florida’s main contributors stayed hot. Devon Paliani extended his goal scoring streak to three games with his powerplay tally yesterday. Also, Broten Sabo pushed his point streak to five games with an assist.

The Everblades are still tied for third in the ECHL with 21 goals scored. However, the Blades more than doubled their goals against numbers giving up five goals last night, having only given up four goals in their first four games combined. That is still good enough for fourth best in the league.

With Friday’s result, the Everblades now sit third in the South Division just two points behind the Greenville Swamp Rabbits and the South Carolina Stingrays who are tied at 10. Greenville’s last five games have all been decided by one goal, with four of those five heading to overtime.

A Saturday matinee will wrap up this weekend series against the Swamp Rabbits at Bon Secours Wellness Arena, with the Blades continuing the road swing next week in Jacksonville.
