Kirkpatrick Loaned to AHL Cleveland; Lorentz Returns

Kirkpatrick Loaned to AHL Cleveland; Lorentz Returns

ESTERO, FL – Florida Everblades President & General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Brad Ralph announced Wednesday that forward Michael Kirkpatrick has been loaned to the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, forward Steven Lorentz has been reassigned to Florida from the Charlotte Checkers (AHL).

Kirkpatrick, 27, is currently tied for the ECHL lead in scoring with 40 points (15g, 25a).  The 5-11, 182-pound center has totaled 158 points (65g, 93a) in 168 career ECHL games split between the Everblades and the Adirondack Thunder. Prior to his professional career, Kirkpatrick accumulated 102 points in four seasons at St. Francis Xavier University from 2011-2015.  The North Sydney, Nova Scotia native also totaled 251 points (108g, 143a) during his four seasons with the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). Kirkpatrick was a member of Saint John’s 2011 Memorial Cup Championship team.

Lorentz, 21, returns to the Everblades after making three appearances with Charlotte (AHL) during his recent recall.  The 6-4, 201-pound rookie forward has logged 13 points (4g, 9a) in 25 appearances with the Everblades this season. Lorentz had a productive junior career totaling 164 points in 247 games played with the OHL’s Peterborough Petes from 2013-2017.  The Waterloo, Ontario native is a seventh-round draft selection of the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

The Everblades battle the Jacksonville Icemen this Friday night at Germain Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
