Everblades Acquire Defenseman Mike Marcou from Reading

ESTERO, FL – Florida Everblades President & General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Brad Ralph announced Thursday that the team has acquired defenseman Mike Marcou from the Reading Royals in exchange for forwards Evan Bloodoff and Adam Brace.

In a related move, the Everblades traded defenseman Chase Golightly to the South Carolina Stingrays to fulfill the future considerations terms of a November 25 trade in which the Everblades received defenseman Danny New.   Subsequently, South Carolina has traded Golightly to the Reading Royals in exchange for future considerations.

Marcou, 27, joins the Everblades after logging 12 points (2g, 10a) in 27 games played with the Royals this season.  The 5-11, 182-pound blueliner has accrued 120 points (26g, 94a) in 257 career ECHL games split between stints with Reading (2014-2016) and Greenville (2012-14).  Marcou has also registered 15 points in 40 playoff games in the ECHL.  The Kings Park, New York native totaled 43 points during his four seasons at UMass-Amherst (2008-2012).

Bloodoff, who has been with the ‘Blades since 2014, now joins the Royals having recorded 16 points (8g, 8a) in 32 games played this season.  Brace was in his third stint with the Everblades, and had totaled 12 points in 28 games played this season split between Florida and Orlando.  Golightly joined the Everblades out of Robert Morris University last season, and the rookie defender has posted eight points (1g, 7a) in 40 appearances with Florida this season.

Today's moves came before Thursday's ECHL trade deadline at 3:00 p.m. .
