ESTERO, FL -- The full Florida Everblades hockey team will be on hand for a premium golf tournament on Oct. 16 at The Forest Country Club. Proceeds from the day will support For the Kids Foundation. The event will cap-off an exciting Opening Weekend for the Florida Everblades and will provide an opportunity for Southwest Florida community members and hockey fans to meet the new Coach Brad Ralph and many new recently-signed players.
For the Kids Foundation is a 501c3 organization that provides joyful elements and promotes healing through laughter for patients battling cancer and blood disorders at Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida. Recent funding for pediatric patients by For the Kids Foundation has provided costume characters, magicians, bubbles, infant toys, puppeteers and Band-Aids with cartoon characters for distraction and anxiety reduction.
The event will take place on the challenging championship-level "Bear" course at The Forest Country Club located at 6100 Club Blvd. in Fort Myers. The day begins with registration and a full buffet lunch at 11:00a.m. followed by a 1:00p.m. shotgun start and a dinner with silent and live auctions post-play.
Scheduled to appear in support of the cause are World Champion and 17-year Major League Baseball retired veteran pitcher Derek Lowe (pictured above) and retired Florida Everblades standouts and jersey-retirees Tom Buckley and Ernie Hartlieb.
Guests of the event will be paired with a Florida Everblades player, coach or organization member and the event is expected to sell out quickly. Registration fee for golfers, including the lunch and dinner is $150 per person. Tickets to attend just the player meet-and-greet dinner and auction portion of the event are $50 per person.
