ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades are looking to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals, needing a win in Game Five of the South Division Finals to move forward. Florida holds a 3-1 series lead over the Orlando Solar Bears and are back at the Kia Center at 7:00 p.m. to try and close out the series.
The Everblades shut out the Solar Bears 3-0 in Game Four, with Cam Johnson stopping all 22 shots he faced for his first shutout of the playoffs and 12th in his postseason career. With the win, Johnson surpassed Riley Gill for the most playoff wins by a goaltender with his 54th victory.
Oliver Chau scored two of Florida’s goals in the win and now is up to seven points in the playoffs. The Blades captain only trails Kyle Betts, who set Chau up for his second goal, for points in the playoffs this year – Betts has eight so far.
Florida went 0/6 on the power play and 2/2 on the penalty kill in Game Four. The two teams combined for 100 penalty minutes in the game. Orlando now faces elimination at the hands of the Everblades for a sixth straight series between the two in-state rivals.
