ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades take on the Trois-Rivières Lions in Game Two of the Eastern Conference Finals on Sunday, May 18 at 5:00 p.m. The Lions lead the series 1-0 over the Blades.
Luke Cavallin pitched a 32-save shutout in Game One in Trois-Rivières 1-0 victory over the Everblades. This loss comes despite Florida outshooting the Lions 32-12 during the match, with that being the lowest amount of shots Florida has allowed this year. Anton Malmstrom led the Everblades with five shots on goal.
Kyle Havlena scored the game’s only goal, getting a shot from the boards through a screen out front and by Cam Johnson for the Blades first playoff loss on home ice since Game Five of last season’s Eastern Conference Finals against the Adirondack Thunder. It’s only the second time the Blades have lost the first game of a series during this dynastic run; the other time was Florida’s 4-0 Game One loss to the Jacksonville Icemen in the first round last year.
After this match, the series shifts to Trois-Rivières for Games Three, Four, and (if necessary) Five.
