ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades begin the final week of the regular season against the Atlanta Gladiators Wednesday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Hertz Arena.
Florida split a pair of games against the Savannah Ghost Pirates last week, winning in dramatic come-from-behind fashion on Friday with a 5-4 decision before being shut out 3-0 the next night. In their victory, Isaac Nurse got the game winning goal with 2.5 seconds remaining in regulation.
Meanwhile, Atlanta is going to miss the playoffs for a third consecutive season, currently holding a 28-31-7-2 record. Cody Sylvester leads the club with 23 goals and 47 points this season, while defenseman Derek Topatigh leads the group in assists with 33 this year. The Gladiators defeated the Jacksonville Icemen 3-2 on Sunday in their last home game of the year.
The Everblades have won 12 straight games against Atlanta, including all four this season. Florida currently occupies second place in the South Division, five points behind the South Carolina Stingrays for first place.
