ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades begin a three-game series against the Norfolk Admirals on Wednesday, March 5 up in Virginia.

This is the first time the two teams play since Norfolk left the South Division for the North Division in the 2022 offseason. Florida is 23-4-4 against Norfolk all time, including sweeping a three-game set in December 2021 the last time these teams faced each other.

The Everblades are four points ahead of the South Carolina Stingrays for first place in the South Division. Starting off March with a 3-1 win over the Stingrays, the Everblades are looking to continue their run of success against opponents outside their division – Florida is 12-2-1-0 against non-divisional opponents this season. 

Norfolk won two of three games over the Trois-Rivières Lions last weekend and are third place in the North Division. Just two points behind the Wheeling Nailers for second in the division, the Admirals boast the league’s third-best offense (3.62 goals per game) led by Brady Fleurent’s 59 points, tied for fourth in the ECHL and 20 ahead of his next closest teammate.

Last season was Norfolk’s first time qualifying for the Kelly Cup Playoffs, where the defeated the Lions in six games in the opening round before falling to the Adirondack Thunder in six in the North Division Finals. Norfolk is the ECHL affiliate of the AHL’s Manitoba Moose and NHL’s Winnipeg Jets.
