Everblades Begin Title Defense in Jacksonville

ESTERO, Fla. – Fresh off their third consecutive Kelly Cup Championship, the Florida Everblades are set to face the Jacksonville Icemen for their first game on Saturday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m. at Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena.

In their preseason opener against the Orlando Solar Bears, the Blades excelled offensively with Carson Gicewicz, Logan Lambdin, Santino Centorame, and Jesse Lansdell all finding the back of the net to claim a 4-1 victory. Goaltender Cam Johnson, turned away all seven of Orlando’s shots in the opening frame, setting the tone early for backup, Will Cranley to make his first 2024-25 preseason appearance.

Last season, the Blades became the first team in ECHL history to win three uninterrupted Kelly Cup titles after taking a 4-1 series over the Kansas City Mavericks. Oliver Chau was the recipient of the June M. Kelly Playoffs MVP Award recording 9 goals and 14 assists for 23 points in 23 postseason contests.

The Blades and Icemen have history, having met in the first round of last season’s Kelly Cup Playoffs. With their backs up against the wall, the Blades recovered from a 3-1 series deficit, winning three straight games to advance to the South Division Finals. In a game-four shutout, this marked the third consecutive postseason in which the Blades eliminated the Icemen.

After the matchup in Jacksonville, the Everblades will shift their focus to their home opener on Friday, October 25, at 7:30 p.m. at Hertz Arena against the Atlanta Gladiators.
