ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades defeated the Kansas City Mavericks 4-1 in Game Four of the Kelly Cup Finals. Florida just needs one more win to secure the franchise’s fourth title. The Blades look to accomplish that feat on home ice when the puck drops on Game Five on Saturday, June 8 at 7:00 p.m. from Hertz Arena.
Oliver Chau, Joe Pendenza, Will Reilly and Bobo Carpenter all scored last night, as the Everblades potted goals in all three periods. The Mavericks scored their lone goal early in the second period. With only five goals scored, Game Four was the lowest-scoring game of the series to date.
The Game Four loss marked the first time Kansas City lost two consecutive games all postseason. The Mavs only lost three games in their run to the Kelly Cup Finals – one to Idaho and two more to Toledo.
Should the Blades win Game Five, it would be the third straight Kelly Cup victory on home ice. Florida would also have won an unprecedented three consecutive Kelly Cups and would sit atop the league with four franchise wins.
The Brabham Cup Champions Mavericks will look to steal a win here in Estero and force the series back to Independence, Mo. for Game Six on June 10. No matter the result, Game Five will mark the final home game of the 2023-24 season at Hertz Arena.
An incredible crowd of 7,448 was on hand for Game Four, and we encourage fans to create another raucous environment for Game Five! Be sure to wear green for the final home game of the year!
