Blades and Icemen in Game Seven

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Six Games were not enough to separate the Florida Everblades and the Jacksonville Icemen in the South Division Semifinals. Now, the two sides will play in a do-or-die Game Seven for the right to advance and take on the Orlando Solar Bears in the South Divison Finals. VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena will be the site of one of the year's most anticipated games on Wednesday, May 1 at 7:00 p.m.

The Eveblades found themselves in another elimination game last night in Game Six, but a 4-1 win behind a three-goal second period gave them the win and the chance to play tonight. Logan Lambdin, Cole Moberg, and Bobo Carpenter (twice) netted the four goals. Game Six was Florida’s second consecutive win and its second win behind enemy lines here in Duval County. The Everblades lost all six games they played in North Florida in the regular season.

Despite the win, Florida hasn’t found the back of the net on the powerplay going a combined 0-14 across the first six games of this series.

This will be the first Game Seven the Blades have played since the 2018 Kelly Cup Finals. The Colorado Eagles would get the better end of that matchup, and secure their second league title in as many years. Florida is 1-3 all-time in Game Sevens, with the lone win coming in the opening round of the 2017 Playoffs against the Solar Bears. Florida came back from 3-1 down in the series before stringing together three straight wins to take the set 4-3 and advance.

The second round is expected to start later this week.

BLADES BITS

For the third time in the series, the Sunshine State rivals battled to a scoreless first period. Neither team was able to find the net in the opening 20 minutes in Games Two, Four, and Six.

The Everblades’ three-goal second period was the second middle frame in the series in which the good guys scored three times, matching their output in a 4-3 overtime loss in Game Three at Hertz Arena. Bobo Carpenter and Logan Lambdin both scored for the second straight game, while Cole Moberg struck for the first time in the playoffs.

Josh Ho-Sang, Matthew Wedman and Sean Josling all had their third assists of the playoffs in the busy second period. Wedman added a team-high fourth assist on the final goal of the game.

The Everblades held Jacksonville to a series-low 25 shots on goal.
