ESTERO, Fla – After securing a 3-1 victory in Game Five to extend their season, the Florida Everblades are back in Jacksonville facing another elimination contest. The Blades will drop the puck with the Icemen on Tuesday, April 30 at 7:00 p.m. for Game Six of the South Division Semifinals, with Jacksonville holding onto a 3-2 series lead.
The Icemen took two of three games at Hertz Arena last week, winning Game Three 4-3 in overtime, and 5-0 in Game Four. But the Everblades stormed back with a game-five win with goals from Bobo Carpenter, Logan Lambdin, and Mark Senden. The win was necessary to return the series to Duval County for Game Six.
Jacksonville has been a tough place to play for the Everblades all season. Florida was 0-4-2 in their northern neighbor's barn during the regular season. The Blades did notch their first win in Jacksonville back in Game Two of this series with a 2-1 overtime result.
If the Everblades win in Game Six, Game Seven will be played the following night, May 1 at 7:00 p.m.
The last time Florida played in a Game Six was the Eastern Conference final last year against the Newfoundland Growlers. In Canada, the Blades skated to a 3-2 win to take the series and punch their ticket to the 2023 Kelly Cup Finals. A playoff series for the Everblades hasn’t gone to seven games since the 2018 Kelly Cup Final against the Colorado Eagles. Colorado secured it’s second franchise Kelly Cup in the final game of the season.
