ESTERO, FL – The Florida Everblades will look to sweep their set against the Savannah Ghost Pirates with a win Saturday, March 23 at 7:00 p.m. on Blackout Night at Hertz Arena.
After starting the series with a 3-2 OT win on Wednesday, Cam Johnson made 33 saves for his third shutout of the campaign and a 4-0 Everblades victory Friday night. Logan Lambdin had his second straight two-goal game and Bobo Carpenter scored Florida’s other two goals in the victory.
The loss for Savannah, coupled with the South Carolina Stingrays earning one point last night, officially eliminated the Ghost Pirates from playoff contention. Savannah has now failed to qualify for the postseason in each of their first two years in the ECHL.
With Savannah out of the race, only the Orlando Solar Bears are still in the mix to steal a playoff spot in the South Division. Right now, Florida is in third place, three points ahead of South Carolina and five clear of Orlando. The Blades are also only three points behind the Jacksonville Icemen for second place in the South Division.
Florida will go on the road for one game following this match tonight – a quick jaunt up I-4 takes the Everblades to Kia Center for their last match again Orlando this season.
