The South Carolina Stingrays defeated the Florida Everblades 5-2 Saturday night, snapping Florida's four-game winning streak.
Both of Florida's goals came in the first period, and both times South Carolina was able to find a response. Logan Lambdin and Zach Uens scored for the Blades, both finishing off nice passing plays, while Jonny Evans and Austin Magera scored in response for the Stingrays.
Midway through the second, Ivan Lodnia found soft ice in Florida's zone and broke the deadlock to give the Stingrays their first lead against Florida in this three-game set. That goal would hold until the end of the period, and Ethan Strang struck early in the third for his first ECHL goal to extend the Stingrays' lead up to two. Ryan Liebold added a power play goal later in the period to finish the scoring.
Ludovic Waeber made 16 saves in his Everblades debut while suffering the loss, while Garin Bjorklund made 31 saves for South Carolina in the win. Florida outshot the Stingrays 33-21, including 17-7 in the third. The Blades are now two points behind the Stingrays for third in the South Division.
