ESTERO, Fla. – Less than two weeks separated from a grueling, five-game series between the two sides that concluded in a brawl, the Florida Everblades and Savannah Ghost Pirates are back in action to add another chapter to the quickly developing rivalry between the two sides. The first of two games is Friday, Feb. 2 at 7:30 p.m. from Enmarket Arena.
Both sides need wins to help their chances towards a Kelly Cup run. Florida has lost three consecutive games to Greenville and Jacksonville and sits below the playoff line in fifth place of the division. However, the Everblades are tied with the Orlando Solar Bears with 46 points and are only four points back of the South Carolina Stingrays in third place.
Savannah hasn’t played since last weekend, and most recently took two losses to the Jacksonville Icemen, 6-1 and 6-2. After a rocky season, the Ghost Pirates sit in last place of the South Division with a 14-22-5 record, and 33 points.
The last time Savannah and Florida faced off, the Everblades took four of five consecutive games over the Ghost Pirates. The last of those games – played at Enmarket Arena – ended in a center-ice scrum that even saw netminders Cam Johnson and Michael McNiven duke it out in the final seconds of the third period.
The Everblades will play two games in Georgia before returning to Hertz Arena next week to play three games against the Adirondack Thunder.
