ESTERO, Fla. – Continuing their lengthy home stand, the Florida Everblades welcome the Orlando Solar Bears to Estero for two games this week. The first is Friday, Dec. 15, at 7:30 p.m. at Hertz Arena.
Florida is coming off a 1-1-1 series against the South Carolina Stingrays last week, with a loss on Wednesday, a win on Friday, and an overtime defeat on Saturday, our Teddy Bear Toss game. The 4-0 victory on Friday highlighted the week, as the Blades are now 5-2-3 in their last ten.
Orlando is also coming off a loss to South Carolina entering this weekend. On Tuesday, the Solar Bears and Stingrays played a morning game at the Amway Center, where South Carolina took a 5-3 win. The Rays potted three unanswered goals in the second period to help pull away from the Bears. Orlando moves to 5-4-1 in its most recent ten games.
The Everblades and Solar Bears will play each other for the seventh and eighth time this week, with Florida holding a 4-2 record in the season series so far. However, it hasn’t always been home sweet home when the Solar Bears come to town. In the three games played at Hertz Arena between the two teams this season, Orlando is 2-1.
Florida and Orlando are deadlocked in the division standings with both sides holding 20 points But the Everblades are seeded slightly higher, as they have one fewer loss.
