Blades Close out Swamp Rabbits Series in Greenville

ESTERO, Fla – With back-to-back wins under their belt, including an overtime thriller on Saturday night, the Florida Everblades look to sweep the Greenville Swamp Rabbits in the closer of a three-game series. Puck drop of the New Year’s Eve clash at Bon Secours Wellness Arena is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.

In the two previous games against Greenville, Florida has won 6-4 and 3-2. The 3-2 overtime win was clinched by a Patrick Holway wrist shot with less than a minute to go in the added frame. The OT win was the first of the season for the Everblades, though Florida did win a shootout game over Orlando in October. 

The two wins give Florida 30 points in the season so far, with two fewer games played than most of the division. That is due to two postponements last week. 

Greenville, after going 1-5 in its last six games, aims to bounce back and reaffirm its position as the top team in the south. So far, the Swamp Rabbits have a 10-5 record at home – the third-best in the ECHL behind Cincinnati (10-3-1) and Idaho (11-3-0-1). 

Sunday’s game starts a four-game road trip for the Everblades. Florida will take on Greenville on Dec. 31, then Atlanta twice before returning to Greenville on Jan. 6 to wrap up the expedition. The Blades return to Hertz Arena on Jan. 10 for the first home game of the year against the Savannah Ghost Pirates. 

As for now, the Everblades look to ring in the new year on a four-game win streak.
