ESTERO, Fla – Sitting at 2-2 through the first four games of the season, the Florida Everblades settle in at home for a three-game series against their in-state foes, the Orlando Solar Bears. Game one of that stretch is on Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. at Hertz Arena.
The Blades began last week with a 2-1 road victory over the Solar Bears, highlighted by Evan Cormier’s staunch, 43-save performance in his first game between the pipes this season. That victory marked the second W at Orlando in the span of the week – Florida opened its season with a shootout victory at the Amway Center on Oct. 19. Sean Josling and Logan Lambdin found twine for the Everblades in the win on Thursday.
Florida then hosted its banner-raising ceremony and home opener against the Jacksonville Icemen on Saturday, Oct. 28. The Everblades and Icemen traded goals all night, including a game-tying snipe by Joe Pendenza with just over a minute to go in the third. However, the Icemen would score just seconds later, making it a 4-3 final in favor of Jacksonville. Defenseman Patrick Holway netted his first goal of the year, while Bobo Carpenter added the second Everblade goal.
Orlando enters Wednesday’s game on a two-game skid, falling to the Blades in the 2-1 finish, and a 4-1 loss the next day to Jacksonville. Steve Jandric and Tyler Bird netted the two Solar Bear goals in the losses.
The three matchups against Orlando continue a four-game homestand for Florida and continue a trend of only playing inter-Florida matchups for the first three weeks of the season. Wednesday’s matchup also features our Hump Day Deals! During Hump Day Deals, you can score all night long with $3 Bud Lights (16 oz. domestic drafts) and John Morrell hot dogs!
