ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades will look to take a 2-0 series lead against the Newfoundland Growlers in Game Two of the Eastern Conference Finals on Saturday, May 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Hertz Arena.
In Game One, ten different Everblades recorded a point in a strong 6-2 win to take a 1-0 series lead. Blake Winiecki scored two goals while Ben Masella’s first of the playoffs was the game winner in a great start to the third round. Tyler Irvine, Will Calverley, and Logan Lambdin also scored goals for the Everblades. Calverley’s goal was his first professional playoff goal.
Stefan Leblanc and Lukas Kalble both had a pair of helpers in the win. Leblanc now has 10 points in the playoffs, all assists.
Florida held Newfoundland to just 19 shots on goal. Cam Johnson made 17 saves for the win while Dryden McKay stopped 21 shots in just his second loss of the postseason.
The Everblades failed to score on six power play opportunities while the Growlers scored once on two chances.
Florida’s six goals sets a new high for goals in one game in this year’s playoffs and ties last season’s high, grabbed in a 6-5 OT win against the Growlers in Game Five of last year’s Eastern Conference Finals.
