EVERBLADES BACK IN JACKSONVILLE LOOKING TO ADVANCE TO THIRD ROUND

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Everblades will once again try to eliminate the Jacksonville Icemen in Game Six of the South Division Finals on Monday, May 15, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. Florida leads the best-of-seven series 3-2 entering action tonight.

Florida won three straight games to open the series, but has dropped back-to-back series clinching opportunities over the past weekend.

In Game Four, the Everblades came back from down two goals in the third period to force OT, but lost in the extra frame. In Game Five, Florida allowed a goal just 11 seconds into the game and could never quite recover from that as the Icemen forced the series back to Jacksonville with a 6-3 victory.

Over the past two games, Florida’s main leaders have been John McCarron and Oliver Chau. McCarron has goals in back-to-back games while Chau scored twice on the power play in Game Five to keep Florida in the match.

For the Icemen, Derek Lodermeier and Christopher Brown both scored twice in Game Five, and Brendan Harris has scored on the power play in each of the last two games, including burying the OT winner in Game Four.

The Game Five loss marked the first time Florida has lost back-to-back since the 2021 Eastern Conference Semifinals against the South Carolina Stingrays. This is also the first time since then the Everblades have failed to convert in back-to-back series clinching games.

The winner of this series will face the Newfoundland Growlers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Game Six will be broadcast on FLO Hockey and ESPN Southwest Florida starting at 6:50 p.m.
