BLADES LOOK FOR SECOND WIN AGAINST GROWLERS ON CANADA NIGHT

ESTERO, Fla.  – The Florida Everblades picked up a huge 4-2 win against the Eastern Conference leading Newfoundland Growlers on Wednesday night and look to pick up a third-straight home win when the teams meet again at Hertz Arena Friday night at 7:30 p.m. 

With Wednesday’s win, the Everblades are right in the thick of a tight South Division as one of four teams separated by just one point. Newfoundland has already clinched a playoff spot and currently sits atop the North Division with a 10-point cushion. 

Wednesday’s matchup was highlighted by Everblades goals from Jake Smith and Ted Nichol in the opening 65 seconds with both goals coming seven seconds apart. Nichol’s goal was his first professional and ECHL tally and gave Florida a 2-0 lead 

Newfoundland knotted the game at 2-2 with early tallies from Pavel Gogolev and Adam Holwell in the second and third period, respectively. The Blades’ Andrew Fyten snapped the tie with the game-winning goal at 12:58, the fourth-straight game in which the rookie has scored a goal. Sean Josling sealed the deal for the Blades with an empty-net goal with 1:19 to play.  

Friday’s 7:30 p.m. clash will be the second game of a three-game series between the Everblades and Growlers where the Blades picked up a huge win on Wednesday night. Friday’s game will feature fan favorite Canada Night and a special promo of two tickets, two programs and two Labatt Blue Draft Beers for $39!
