Players to WatchShane Walsh (FLA) – After going 10 games without a goal, Walsh has tallies in consecutive games and notched the only regulation goal for the 'Blades in Friday's win. He has 18 points (8g-10a) in 39 games for Florida this season. The product of UMass has collected multiple points in two games this season.
Andrew Cherniwchan (SC) - In his seventh season with South Carolina, Cherniwchan has been a key cog offensively for the Stingrays. Series historySaturday is the seventh regular-season matchup between Florida and South Carolina. The Everblades have posted a 4-1-1 record against the Stingrays through the first six meetings this season, including a 2-1-0 record at North Charleston Coliseum. Florida holds an all-time record of 103-67-22 against South Carolina, which is the 'Blades most-played opponent in their franchise history. Saturday is the 193rd all-time matchup.
Road WarriorsThanks to Friday's victory, Florida still has the most road wins of any ECHL team with 22. In fact, only one other ECHL team has more than 17 road wins. Cincinnati has the second-most road victories with 19, while only Newfoundland has fewer regulation road losses (8).
Long Time ComingBefore Friday's shootout win, Florida had not played in three straight overtime games in nine seasons. The most times the 'Blades played consecutive overtime games in the last three years was the 2016-17 season, when they played in consecutive overtime tilts on three separate occasions. Florida played four straight tilts in overtime from Feb. 19-28, 2010, but only two were shootouts.
Low Score, No ProblemThree has been the magic number for Florida this season. The 'Blades have lost just one game in regulation when they have found the back of the net three times, sporting a record of 43-1-4-0 in that scenario. However, Florida did something it hadn't done yet this season on Friday, winning in a game in which it scored less than three goals. Before Friday's victory, the Everblades were 0-14-1-0 when they had found the back of the net two times or less.
Extra, ExtraAfter going 29 straight games without needing overtime, Florida has played in three straight overtime tilts for the first time this year. The Everblades lost each of their first five overtime games this season but have now reeled off six consecutive wins in overtime or shootout affairs. Florida is the ECHL's only undefeated team in shootouts this season (5-0).
Next UpThe Everblades play their final road game of the regular season on Sunday, finishing off a four-game road trip with a 3:05 p.m. matchup against the Stingrays.
