GAME DAY: Everblades at Greenville - Feb. 2

GREENVILLE, S.C. — The Florida Everblades (31-9-5-0, 67 pts.) close out a travel-heavy week of three games in three different cities spanning five days when they battle the Greenville Swamp Rabbits (14-28-3-2, 33 pts.) on Saturday at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

Last Time OutFlorida fell in a 2-0 hole to the Atlanta Gladiators on Thursday night, and, despite a strong push in the third period, it could not overcome the deficit in a 2-1 loss. Defenseman Matt Finn tabbed the lone goal for the 'Blades, which outshot Atlanta by a margin of nine shots in the third period (14-5) and finished with a 29-27 edge in shots on goal. Atlanta's Sean Bonar stopped 28 of the 29 shots he faced to earn the win.  BOX SCORE | RECAP

Players to WatchJeremy Helvig (FLA) – The rookie is currently in the midst of an 11-game personal win streak but is trying to bounce back from yielding four goals on 19 shots on Tuesday against Jacksonville. Helvig was pulled in the second period of that contest and didn't receive a decision. He allowed less than three goals in seven straight appearances before Tuesday and has permitted more than three goals in only four starts this year.

Austen Brassard (GRN) - The sixth-year pro leads all Greenville players in scoring against Florida with seven points (4g-3a). Brassard started his professional career in the AHL with the St. John's IceCaps and has played in 199 career AHL games with 63 points (26g-37a). He is third on Greenville in scoring this season with 29 points (14g-15a).

Series historySaturday marks the 10th and final meeting between the Everblades and Swamp Rabbits this season. After playing in Greenville just once last season, the 'Blades will have faced the Swamp Rabbits five times in Greenville after Saturday's matchup. Florida holds a 9-0-0-0 record against Greenville this season and a 52-31-15 mark in the all-time series. Since dropping the first two meetings last year, both of which were shootout losses, Florida has won 14 straight games in the series. Plus PlayerDefenseman Logan Roe, who earned the ECHL Plus Performer of the Year honor last season with a +43 rating, was named on Friday the AMI Graphics ECHL Plus Performer of the Month for January after finishing with a +17 mark. A Fort Myers, Florida, native, Roe has been an even or better rating in all but six games this season and has been even or better in 22 consecutive games, a stretch that started on Dec. 13 against Greenville.  Offensive OutpouringThere have been just six games this year where an opponent has held the 'Blades to less than two goals. However, Florida has responded well when an opposing team has suppressed its offense. In the game immediately following the contest in which they were held to less than two goals, the 'Blades have averaged 4.60 goals. Florida was shut out on Nov. 16 after scoring just once on Nov. 14. Excluding that Nov. 16 contest, the 'Blades have averaged 5.75 goals in the game after tabbing less than two goals. Answering the BellFlorida has also answered the call after a loss. The 'Blades have posted an 11-1-1-0 record on the heels of a regulation or overtime defeat this season. The only time Florida lost consecutive games in regulation was the stretch from Nov. 14-16 when it fell to Jacksonville, 2-1, and South Carolina, 1-0, respectively. What a DifferenceFlorida leads the ECHL in goal differential and has scored 72 more goals than it has allowed this season, a differential that is 16 goals better than the next closest team, Cincinnati. A big part of that figure has been the 'Blades dominance in the second period. Florida has outscored opponents by 33 goals in the middle frame. Adirondack is the next best team in period two with a +18 goal differential.

Next Up Following Saturday's tilt, Florida returns home for six straight games at Hertz Arena. That homestand starts with a three-game set against the Adirondack Thunder on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday of this coming week.
