ESTERO, Fla. — The Florida Everblades announced Tuesday that they will partner with 4 Words Foundation and Fight Like Chrissy to raise money for the fight against breast cancer at this Saturday’s Pink in the Rink Night presented by Radiology Regional Center.

As part of the partnership between the ‘Blades and Radiology Regional Center, the Everblades will donate all proceeds from the postgame jersey auction of the team’s Pink in the Rink jerseys to 4 Words Foundation. Additionally, the organization behind Fight Like Chrissy will match the proceeds from the jersey auction up to $10,000 dollars.

“Pink in the Rink is one of the most emotional games of the season, and we’re grateful for the support of our presenting sponsor Radiology Regional Center,” said Chris Palin, the Everblades Vice President of Business Development. “We all have someone in our lives affected by breast cancer, and we’re really excited about the opportunity to raise money to benefit a local organization and help fight the disease in Southwest Florida.”

“Radiology Regional Center is thrilled to partner with the Everblades for Pink in the Rink and grateful for the ability to raise much-needed funds for 4 Words Foundation,” said Renée Palin, the Patient Scheduling & Mobile Mammo Director for Radiology Regional Center.

“This special event is an opportunity for us to remind women not to wait until they suspect a problem to schedule their mammogram. Mammograms can detect abnormalities before there are any signs or symptoms and could be the difference between early detection of a less invasive cancer, versus battling late-stage cancer. Annual screening mammograms save lives, and Radiology Regional Center thanks the Everblades for their commitment to women’s health.”

This year’s Pink in the Rink jerseys will feature the ‘Fight Like Chrissy’ slogan for the first time. The Fight Like Chrissy movement is named after Chrissy, a single mom of two and domestic violence caseworker for the State of Florida who passed away at 39 years old after her fight with breast cancer.

“Chrissy was a symbol of strength in everything that she did, and we wanted to honor the woman, mother and fighter she was through this special jersey and donation to the fight against breast cancer,” said Chad Lund, the head of the Fight Like Chrissy movement. “It’s our hope that we can continue to use her example to empower all women to get screened for breast cancer regardless of age and be strong like Chrissy in their fights.”

The postgame jersey auction will take place in the East End of Hertz Arena, the side located below the Breakaway Sports Pub, immediately following Saturday night’s game. Fans will have the chance to bid on Everblades’ player jerseys, Everbabes jerseys, and Swampee’s jersey on Saturday.

Radiology Regional Center will have its mobile mammography unit at the game for tours on Saturday. There will also be a free pregame tailgate from 5-7 p.m. on Saturday that will feature live music from Brandon Maddox.

The Everblades host the Adirondack Thunder in a three-game series this week. The games on Wednesday and Friday start at 7:30 p.m., while the series finale on Saturday in slated for 7 p.m.
