ESTERO, Fla. – For the first time ever, the Florida Everblades face the Tahoe Knight Monsters on Wednesday, February 19 at 7:30 p.m.
Florida is riding a season-high five game winning streak after sweeping the Indy Fuel last week. On Saturday, Alex Kile scored the shootout winner in a 3-2 decision. Through the series, Tarun Fizer paced the Blades offense with four goals, and captain Oliver Chau is on a five-game point streak.
The Everblades are in first place in the ECHL with 74 points, three points ahead of the Trois-Rivières Lions and Toledo Walleye in the Brabham Cup race. Florida’s magic number to clinch a playoff spot is 22 following last week’s action.
Tahoe is in the midst of a strong inaugural season, sitting tied with the Wichita Thunder and Tulsa Oilers for second in the Mountain Division with 50 points each. Rookie Sloan Stanick leads the club in assists (32) and points (53) this season – his 53 points also lead all ECHL rookies and places him fourth in the entire league.
The Knight Monsters suffered back-to-back losses to the Thunder last weekend. On Saturday, Wichita won a wild matchup 9-7, then on Sunday, they doubled up Tahoe 6-3 - Tahoe is now 4-5-1-0 in their last ten games.
