ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades begin a three-game set against the Indy Fuel on Wednesday, February 12 at 7:00 p.m. in Florida’s first trip to the new Fishers Event Center.

Florida took two of three matchups against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits last week, and sit nine points ahead of the rest of the field in the South Division. After being shut out 3-0 in the first game of the set, the Everblades responded with 4-2 and 3-2 wins on consecutive nights. Oliver Chau scored two goals in the first victory and Carson Gicewicz potted two of his own the next night.

The Fuel took down the Kansas City Mavericks 3-2 in overtime last Saturday and are three points behind the Bloomington Bison for the last playoff spot in the Central Division. Kyle Maksimovich scored two goals, including the OT winner, in the victory.

Gicewicz has four points (two goals, two assists) over the last two games and leads the Everblades with 38 points this season. Colin Bilek and Byran Lemos are tied atop Indy’s scoring with 30 points each. 

Both teams have been stellar in goal this year, sharing the league lead in shutouts with seven a side this season. Florida ranks first in the ECHL in goals against per game (2.04) with Indy right behind in second (2.40) in the same metric. On the other side, the gap is far wider – the Everblades offense ranks 11^th in the ECHL with 3.26 goals per game, while the Fuel are tied with the Cincinnati Cylones for the league’s lowest goals for rate (2.33) and are the only team in the ECHL with under 100 goals for this season, with only 98 to their name.

This game is the first time Florida and Indy meet since January 16, 2020. Blake Winiecki’s two goals led to a 4-2 Everblades win in the Indiana Farmers Coliseum. Florida is 6-1-0-0 against Indy all-time.
