ESTERO, Fla. – After back-to-back shutout wins in Savannah, the Florida Everblades end January with a home matchup against the Orlando Solar Bears Friday, January 31 at 7:30 p.m. inside Hertz Arena.

On Sunday, the Everblades dismantled the Savannah Ghost Pirates 6-0 after a 2-0 win over Savannah the day before. Jesse Lansdell scored two power play goals, Gary Haden had three assists, and Cam Johnson made 19 saves for his league-leading fifth shutout of the campaign.

The Everblades enter Friday two points ahead of the Toledo Walleye for first place in the ECHL. Florida stands as the ECHL’s top defensive team this season, allowing just 1.93 goals against per game and tied with the Indy Fuel with seven shutouts this year.

Orlando has gone 8-2-1 since the last meeting between the in-state rivals, building up a significant lead for fourth place in the South Division. On Tuesday, Spencer Kersten scored two goals to guide his team to a 4-1 win over the Jacksonville Icemen. The Solar Bears now sit just one point back of the Icemen for third place. 

Florida leads the season series 6-2-1, though Orlando won the most recent meeting 2-1 in overtime, with Kersten scoring the game winner. The rookie forward sits tied for tenth in points this season with 40 entering action Friday night.

Friday’s game is Affiliation Night as the Blades celebrate their new NHL and AHL affiliates, the St. Louis Blues and Springfield Thunderbirds.
