BLADES PREPARE FOR THANKSGIVING ROAD STRETCH

ESTERO, Fla. – Following a dominant 5-0 victory over the Kalamazoo Wings to complete a flawless homestand, the Florida Everblades will be facing off against the Fort Wayne Komets as part of a five-game road trip with two belonging to the Jacksonville Icemen. The three consecutive games are set for Thursday, Thanksgiving day, Friday, November 29 and Saturday November 30 at 7:35 p.m. each.

The Blades head into the road trip with confidence after a shutout effort on Saturday, where Carson Gicewicz led the charge with two goals and an assist and Cam Johnson recorded his third shutout in four starts.

After a scoreless first, Florida's offensive depth was fully displayed in the second frame as Colin Theisen opened the scoring and paved the way for Logan Lambdin, Kyle Betts and Gicewicz to each contribute goals bringing the score to 4-0.

Though Kalamazoo had 10 scoring opportunities in the 20 minutes, the contest saw its second intermission with a lopsided scoreboard and a 25-16 shot advantage in favor of the Blades.

Gicewicz saw his second of the game, respectively, at the 13:16 mark in the third period to bring the score to five before the final whistle to end the series in a three-game sweep.

With their games in The Swamp coming to an end, the Blades will now face the Komets who this season, currently sit at 10th in overall team standings, ranking 19th in penalty killing and 6th on the power play, while the Blades are currently ranked 16th in penalty killing, 24th on the power play and first overall.

This will be the first time the two teams faceoff since the 2023-24 regular season after the Komets failed to qualify for the 2024 Kelly Cup Playoffs and the Blades went on to claim their third consecutive Kelly Cup.
