ESTERO, Fla. – The Florida Everblades, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s St. Louis Blues and the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds, announced that defenseman Anton Malmström has been assigned to the Blades by the Blues.
Malmström, 24, enters his first season with the Everblades. Last season, he appeared in 21 regular season contests with the Thunderbirds where he recorded one goal and three assists for a total of four points before moving on to ECHL’s Orlando Solar Bears for the remainder of the 2023-24 season. While with the Solar Bears, Malmström tallied two assists in five total regular-season contests.
Before turning pro, he played three collegiate seasons with Bowling Green State University, appearing in 89 games and contributing a combined seven goals and six assists over three seasons.
A native of Örebro, Sweden, Malmström developed his early skills with Djurgårdens IF’s junior hockey program, which paved the way for his transition to North American hockey. Malmström joined the Blues organization as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and has played over 30 professional games in both the AHL and ECHL.
