Blades Blueprint: Jordan Sambrook

After clinching a historic third consecutive Kelly Cup, the Everblades are now focused on their blueprint to a fourth for the upcoming 2024-2025 season.
A significant part of this anticipated success revolves around returning defenseman Jordan Sambrook taking on a leadership role to help new talent adapt to Head Coach Brad Ralph’s coaching system.
“I really want to be a leader, not only for the young guys but to the guys coming in,” said Sambrook.
For the three years Sambrook has been part of the Everblades’ roster, he has been a staple on the blue line, playing a key role in the playoffs when they entered as underdogs and came out champions.
His drive to win has only grown over the offseason: “Once you win one, you want to keep winning,” he said.
With new additions to the roster, his approach to winning changes but remains confident.
This means revisiting the already-established team dynamic while also innovating and being in tune with new talent being brought in.
“I know they’ll be a great addition to us,” said Sambrook.
Part of this confidence lies within his offseason efforts to ensure he’s dominating in every aspect of his individual role.
The more physically demanding aspect:
“The biggest thing for me is my cardio… I want to come in the best shape I can.”
As well as the more mental and strategic aspects:
“I played the role of a good penalty killer last year, so mentally I want to focus on that,” he said.
With Sambrook actively building the bridge between old and new, Coach Ralph can then execute familiar but exciting hockey in a way that utilizes his leadership for a successful 2024-2025 Everblades season.
