ESTERO, Fla. – The home sweep alluded the Florida Everblades in the Eastern Conference Finals, and now look to wrap up the best-of-seven series against the Adirondack Thunder in New York. The 2024 Kelly Cup Playoffs presented by Germain Lexus and Scanlon Lexus continue with Game Six on Tuesday, May 28, at 7:00 p.m. from Cool Insuring Arena.
Facing elimination in Game Five, the Thunder stormed ahead with two goals in the first period. However, the Everblades bounced back with two goals of their own in the second. With the game tied entering the final period of play, Adirondack broke the deadlock first, before adding an empty-netter late. The Thunder skated away with a 4-2 win to preserve their season and send the series back to home ice.
Adirondack had only scored three goals across the series’ first four games, but potted four on Saturday night.
This is the second series the Everblades have played this postseason to go to at least six games. The opening round of the playoffs required seven games to eliminate the Jacksonville Icemen, while round two against the Orlando Solar Bears only needed five.
The winner of the Eastern Conference Finals will go on to face the Kansas City Mavericks in the Kelly Cup Finals. The Mavericks defeated the Toledo Walleye 4-2 in the Western Finals.
