Blades Thump Ghost Pirates 6-2

SAVANNAH, G.A. – Looking to make it a perfect road trip after two straight wins over the Atlanta Gladiators, the Florida Everblades walked into EnMarket Arena and thumped the Savannah Ghost Pirates in a 6-2 final.

The Blades exploded out of the gate in the first period, potting three goals before the horn sounded. Josh Ho-Sang opened the scoring after corralling a loose puck in the slot and snapping it into the back of the net. A few minutes later, Sean Josling doubled the lead with his second goal in as many games. Will Reilly then capped off the first with a sizzling one-timer from the top of the left circle for the power-play goal.

In the second, the Ghost Pirates scored 47 seconds into the period off the stick of Brent Pedersen to make it 3-1. However, Florida would retake the three-goal advantage just moments later when Mark Senden cleaned up a rebound after two thunderous shots from the wings. Midway through the frame, Oliver Chau scored the Everblades’ fifth goal on the power play to close out the second period with a 5-1 lead. Ho-Sang provided a silky-smooth assist for his third point of the night.

Florida shifted into a defensive mindset in the third period, but Savannah still found ways to score. Pedersen scored his second of the game on a power play 7:44 into the frame to cut the score to 5-2. But later on on a man advantage for the Blades, Chau would light the lamp a second time, bumping the score to 6-2, where it would finish.

The win marks the first time this season that the Everblades have won three consecutive road games.

While the Eveblades went 0-8 on the power play in their last two games, they found their stride on Saturday, going 3-8 with the extra skater against the Ghost Pirates. Savannah was 1-2 on power play opportunities.

Cam Johnson made 28 saves on 30 shots. Michael Bullion stopped 24 of 30.

The Blades are back home next week for three games starting on Wednesday, April 10 against the Jacksonville Icemen.
